Introduction to Wellness

The dimensions of wellness include physical, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, occupational, and environmental.

  • Physical wellness involves aspects of life that are necessary to keep yourself in top condition.
  • Social Wellness refers to one’s ability to interact with people around them.
  • Emotional Wellness implies the ability to be aware of and accept our feelings, rather than deny them, have an optimistic approach to life, and enjoy life despite its occasional disappointments and frustrations.
  • Spiritual Wellness is a personal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose in our lives.
  • Intellectual wellness is engaging the individual in creative and stimulating mental activities to expand their knowledge and skills and help them discover the potential for sharing their gifts with others.
  • Occupational Wellness is the ability to achieve a balance between work and leisure time, addressing workplace stress and building relationships with co-workers.
  • Environmental wellness includes trying to live in harmony with the Earth by understanding the impact of your interaction with nature and your personal environment, and taking action to protect the world around you.
